Does Sheetz Sell Lottery Tickets? What You Need to Know
Yes, many Sheetz locations sell lottery tickets, but lottery availability depends on the state and the individual store.
Sheetz operates convenience stores and gas stations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. Lottery sales are not automatically available at every Sheetz location simply because the store is part of the chain. Lottery products are regulated by the state, and participating retailers must be authorized to sell them.
Official state lottery records provide clear evidence that Sheetz stores sell lottery products in several states. Pennsylvania Lottery records identify Sheetz as a lottery retailer, while recent Maryland Lottery news reports customers purchasing scratch off tickets at Sheetz. Ohio Lottery publications also list individual Sheetz stores among retailers selling winning lottery tickets.
So, if you are stopping at Sheetz because you want a Powerball ticket, Mega Millions ticket, scratch off, or another state lottery game, the safest approach is to check the specific store and the lottery rules in that state.
Does Every Sheetz Sell Lottery Tickets?
No.
This is the most important detail that gets lost in a simple yes or no answer.
Sheetz is a multi state convenience store chain, but lottery products are governed by state lottery agencies rather than by one nationwide Sheetz lottery policy.
That means two Sheetz locations can offer different lottery services.
One store may have a self service lottery machine. Another may sell tickets directly at the register. Another location may not offer lottery products at all.
The differences can come from state regulations, retailer participation, store policies, available equipment, and the specific lottery games offered in that area.
For example, the Virginia Lottery has documented Mega Millions promotions involving purchases from participating Virginia Sheetz retailer locations. West Virginia Lottery publications also identify multiple Sheetz stores among leading lottery retailers.
Which States Have Sheetz Locations That Sell Lottery Tickets?
Current official records show Sheetz lottery sales in several states where the company operates.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania is one of the strongest examples.
Pennsylvania Lottery documents have specifically listed Sheetz locations in promotions involving Powerball purchases. Pennsylvania Lottery winner records also identify Sheetz stores associated with winning tickets.
This means customers at participating Pennsylvania Sheetz stores can purchase Pennsylvania Lottery products, subject to the games and services available at that particular location.
Maryland
Sheetz also sells Maryland Lottery products at participating locations.
The Maryland Lottery has published multiple recent stories involving winning tickets purchased at Sheetz.
In July 2026, the Maryland Lottery reported a $77,777 scratch off prize purchased at the Sheetz store at 429 Virginia Avenue in Cumberland. In August 2026, the Maryland Lottery reported a $1 million scratch off prize purchased from a Sheetz location in Manchester.
These official reports are useful because they show current real world lottery activity at Sheetz rather than relying on an outdated store list.
North Carolina
Sheetz participates in the North Carolina Education Lottery retailer network as well.
North Carolina Lottery records identify Sheetz locations connected with winning tickets, including recent prize records from Sheetz stores.
Historical North Carolina Lottery materials have also identified Sheetz among convenience stores selling lottery products.
Ohio
Ohio is another state where official lottery materials identify Sheetz locations as lottery retailers.
A recent Ohio Lottery publication listed Sheetz stores among retailers that sold tickets associated with large prizes, including Sheetz #639 in Austintown and Sheetz #648 in Brunswick.
This confirms that lottery purchasing is available at participating Ohio Sheetz locations.
Virginia
Virginia Sheetz stores also participate in lottery sales.
Virginia Lottery documents describe qualifying Mega Millions purchases made from participating Virginia Sheetz retailer locations. Another Virginia Lottery promotion described lottery activity at Virginia Sheetz locations and defined participating retailers as authorized lottery sellers.
There is also documented history of major Virginia Lottery prizes being sold at Sheetz. A Mega Millions player, for example, purchased a winning ticket at Sheetz in Warrenton, Virginia.
West Virginia
West Virginia is another clear example.
West Virginia Lottery publications list numerous Sheetz locations among top instant ticket and draw game retailers. Recent lottery materials identify stores in Weirton, Martinsburg, South Charleston, Inwood, Princeton, Fairmont, and other communities.
So customers in participating West Virginia Sheetz stores can buy West Virginia Lottery products.
Michigan
This one requires more caution.
Sheetz now operates stores in Michigan, and Sheetz identifies Michigan as part of its current operating footprint.
However, the fact that Sheetz has stores in a state does not automatically establish that every Sheetz location offers lottery tickets.
Michigan has its own licensed lottery retailer system, and the Michigan Lottery directs customers to its retailer finder for locations and game availability.
For that reason, customers should verify a specific Michigan Sheetz location rather than assuming lottery service is available there.
What Kind of Lottery Tickets Does Sheetz Sell?
The answer depends on the state and the individual retailer.
Depending on the location, you may find several categories of lottery products.
Scratch Off Tickets
Scratch off tickets are among the most common lottery products sold through convenience stores.
You purchase the ticket and reveal the covered numbers or symbols according to the game’s rules.
Maryland Lottery reports provide recent examples of customers buying scratch off games at Sheetz, including a $20 instant ticket that produced a $1 million prize.
Powerball
Powerball is a major multi state draw game and is available through authorized retailers in participating states.
Pennsylvania Lottery promotional documents have specifically involved Powerball purchases made at Pennsylvania Sheetz locations.
Whether a particular Sheetz sells Powerball depends on the lottery products authorized in that state and the store’s participation.
Mega Millions
Mega Millions is another major draw game that can be purchased through participating Sheetz lottery retailers.
Virginia Lottery documents have specifically referenced Mega Millions purchases at participating Sheetz locations.
State Specific Draw Games
Each state has its own lottery portfolio.
That means the games available at a Sheetz in Pennsylvania can differ from those available at a Sheetz in North Carolina or West Virginia.
State specific products may include daily draw games, number games, cash games, Keno, instant tickets, and other lottery products.
The availability depends on the state’s lottery program rather than the Sheetz brand itself.
Can You Buy Scratch Offs at Sheetz?
Yes, participating Sheetz locations sell scratch off tickets.
The Maryland Lottery provides particularly recent evidence, including documented scratch off purchases at Sheetz locations in 2026.
The exact games available can change frequently.
A store may carry a particular scratch off game one week and have limited or no stock later.
That is normal for instant lottery products because retailers receive and sell specific ticket books and games based on lottery distribution.
Michigan Lottery guidance, for example, notes that some instant games can have limited availability and recommends using the lottery’s retailer information to locate specific games.
Does Sheetz Sell Powerball Tickets?
Participating Sheetz locations can sell Powerball tickets where the state lottery authorizes the game.
Pennsylvania Lottery materials have documented Powerball promotions involving Sheetz.
However, do not assume that every Sheetz everywhere sells Powerball.
The correct question is whether the specific Sheetz is an authorized retailer for that state’s lottery.
Does Sheetz Sell Mega Millions Tickets?
Yes, participating Sheetz lottery retailers can sell Mega Millions tickets in states where the game is offered.
Virginia Lottery records specifically describe Mega Millions purchases at participating Virginia Sheetz locations.
Mega Millions availability also depends on state lottery participation and current retail arrangements.
The game is not a product controlled exclusively by Sheetz.
Can You Buy Lottery Tickets at the Sheetz Register?
Sometimes.
The sales process depends heavily on the store and state.
Some locations may sell lottery products through a cashier. Others may use self service lottery vending machines or kiosks.
Virginia Lottery promotional rules, for example, have specifically referenced Mega Millions purchases from a self service vending machine at participating Virginia Sheetz retailer locations.
Maryland Lottery reports also document scratch off purchases from a vending machine at a Sheetz store.
This explains why two customers can have very different experiences at different Sheetz stores.
Does Sheetz Have Lottery Machines?
Some Sheetz locations do.
The type of equipment varies by state and location.
You may see:
- Self service lottery vending machines
- Lottery display terminals
- Ticket dispensing equipment
- Retailer operated lottery terminals
A vending machine can be particularly useful for scratch offs because customers can browse available games without waiting for a cashier.
Maryland Lottery’s recent report about a $1 million winning scratch off purchased at Sheetz specifically mentions a vending machine.
That does not mean every Sheetz has the same equipment.
Can You Buy Lottery Tickets at the Sheetz Drive Through?
You should not assume that you can.
Lottery sales can be subject to state specific regulations and store procedures.
Some Sheetz stores may sell lottery products through certain sales channels while others may restrict them to the inside store or a lottery machine.
The practical approach is to purchase lottery tickets inside the store unless the location clearly indicates another authorized method.
A drive through window is not automatically treated the same way as an ordinary retail counter for regulated lottery transactions.
What Payment Methods Can You Use for Lottery Tickets at Sheetz?
Payment options can vary according to state law and store procedures.
Cash is commonly accepted at lottery retailers.
Other forms of payment may be permitted in some jurisdictions, but customers should not assume that credit cards, debit cards, mobile wallets, or other payment methods will work for every lottery purchase.
Lottery transactions are subject to state rules, and those rules can differ substantially.
When buying a ticket, check the payment options available at the specific Sheetz location.
Can You Use Your Sheetz Rewards Points to Buy Lottery Tickets?
Generally, you should not expect lottery purchases to earn regular Sheetz Rewardz points.
Sheetz’s current loyalty program states that qualifying purchases earn points but specifically excludes lottery purchases from point earning.
So even though you can purchase certain products during the same store visit and earn Rewardz on eligible purchases, buying a lottery ticket is treated differently.
This distinction is easy to miss if you are already using the Sheetz loyalty program regularly.
Can You Use Sheetz Rewards for Lottery Tickets?
Lottery purchases are excluded from the normal qualifying purchase structure of the Sheetz Rewardz program. Sheetz’s current loyalty information specifically lists lottery among purchases that do not earn points.
Because loyalty promotions and terms can change, check the current rules before assuming a promotional offer applies to lottery purchases.
Can You Cash a Winning Lottery Ticket at Sheetz?
Sometimes, but the rules depend on the state, prize amount, retailer authorization, and store policy.
A lottery retailer may be able to validate a winning ticket and pay certain prizes, but retailers are not necessarily equipped to handle every prize amount.
The state lottery determines where larger prizes must be claimed.
For example, Michigan Lottery explains that qualifying retailer locations can redeem certain winning tickets while larger prizes must be claimed through designated lottery offices or other approved methods.
If you win a significant prize at Sheetz, check the lottery agency’s official prize claim instructions before going to the store expecting a large cash payout.
Can Sheetz Check Whether Your Ticket Won?
Participating lottery retailers can generally scan tickets using authorized lottery equipment.
The exact process depends on the state.
Michigan Lottery, for example, states that tickets can be checked through the Michigan Lottery app, eligible retailer scanning equipment, or other approved methods depending on the ticket type.
Some stores may also have a self service scanner or lottery machine.
If your ticket appears to be a winner, keep the original ticket safe and follow the state’s official claim instructions.
Do You Need an ID to Buy a Lottery Ticket at Sheetz?
Age requirements apply to lottery purchases, but the specific minimum age depends on state law.
Retail employees may ask for identification when there is a question about age.
Do not assume that the rules are identical everywhere Sheetz operates.
The store may also follow procedures required by the state lottery commission.
For example, Virginia Lottery documents describe lottery participants as being at least 18 for the specific promotion cited in the official rules.
Always follow the age and identification requirements where you are purchasing the ticket.
What Lottery Games Can You Buy at Sheetz?
There is no single nationwide Sheetz lottery menu.
Depending on the location, you may find:
| Lottery Product | Available at Participating Sheetz? |
| Scratch off tickets | Yes |
| Powerball | Yes, where offered by the state |
| Mega Millions | Yes, where offered by the state |
| Daily draw games | Depends on state |
| Keno | Depends on state |
| State specific games | Depends on state |
| Lottery promotions | Depends on state and participating retailer |
The important word throughout the table is participating.
Lottery inventory and product availability can change by store.
How Do You Find a Sheetz That Sells Lottery Tickets?
The easiest method is to verify the specific location instead of relying on a general Sheetz statement.
Start with the state lottery website.
Most state lottery agencies provide a retailer locator or store search tool.
Michigan Lottery, for example, provides a retailer finder for locating stores and checking availability of particular instant games.
You can also use the official Sheetz store locator to identify nearby locations before checking the applicable state lottery retailer database. Sheetz’s official site provides a store finder that allows customers to search by address, city, or ZIP code.
For an accurate answer, verify both:
The Sheetz location
and
The lottery retailer status for that location.
This is more reliable than assuming every Sheetz carries every lottery product.
Why Does Lottery Availability Vary Between Sheetz Stores?
Sheetz is a chain, but lottery sales are controlled at the state level.
Each state determines its own lottery games, retailer requirements, sales rules, prize redemption procedures, and other regulations.
The retailer may then have its own participation and operational policies.
That is why you may see lottery signage at one Sheetz while another location has no lottery machine.
The difference does not necessarily mean the store is doing something wrong.
It can simply reflect the state’s lottery structure or the specific store’s participation.
Does Sheetz Sell Lottery Tickets 24 Hours a Day?
Sheetz stores are well known for operating around the clock, and Sheetz currently describes its store network as offering a 24 hour convenience experience.
That does not automatically mean lottery sales are available every minute of every day.
Lottery sales can be subject to state mandated cutoff times, drawing schedules, terminal availability, maintenance, and store procedures.
For a late night purchase, especially shortly before a drawing, check the rules for the relevant state lottery.
A store being open does not guarantee that every regulated service is available continuously.
Can You Buy a Lottery Ticket at Any Sheetz Near Me?
Not necessarily.
The phrase “Sheetz near me” tells you where the stores are, not which services they offer.
A nearby location may sell fuel, food, drinks, tobacco products, and convenience items without offering every lottery game.
The best way to confirm is to use the store locator and then verify the location through the relevant state lottery’s retailer information.
This becomes especially important when you are looking for a specific game rather than just any lottery ticket.
What Should You Check Before Buying a Lottery Ticket at Sheetz?
If you are looking for a specific game, check these details first:
- Confirm the Sheetz location.
- Verify that the store is an authorized lottery retailer.
- Check whether the specific game is available.
- Check the current ticket cutoff time if it is a draw game.
- Confirm the accepted payment method.
- Keep the ticket safe after purchase.
This takes less time than driving to a store and discovering that it does not carry the game you wanted.

Do not assume every Michigan Sheetz sells lottery products.
Sheetz operates in Michigan, but lottery sales depend on the store’s authorization through the Michigan Lottery. Michigan maintains a retailer network and provides an official retailer search tool.
Checking the specific location is the safest approach.
Sheetz is primarily a physical convenience store retailer for lottery purchases.
State lotteries may separately offer online lottery games or digital purchasing options where permitted by law, but that does not mean you are buying a Sheetz lottery ticket online.
For example, the Michigan Lottery provides online purchasing for certain draw games through its own platform.
That is different from purchasing a physical lottery ticket from a Sheetz store.
Generally, the ticket price is determined by the lottery game rather than by Sheetz adding a markup.
A $5 state lottery ticket is normally sold at its stated ticket price.
The available denominations depend on the specific games offered by that state lottery.
Scratch off games, draw games, add on features, and multi draw options can have different prices.
Always check the ticket itself and the rules for the particular game.
The store cannot sell a ticket that it does not have available.
Scratch off inventories are especially variable because individual games have limited ticket supplies and may be replaced as new games are introduced.
Michigan Lottery guidance specifically warns that certain instant games can have limited availability and recommends checking retailer information for specific games.
If you are searching for a particular scratch off, calling the store or checking the state lottery’s retailer tools can save you a wasted trip.
Final notes
Yes, Sheetz sells lottery tickets at many participating locations.
Official lottery records confirm Sheetz lottery activity in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.
You may find scratch offs, Powerball, Mega Millions, state specific draw games, Keno, and other products depending on the location.
The important part is that not every Sheetz offers exactly the same lottery services.
Lottery sales are governed by state law and participating retailer status. Some stores use cashiers, while others offer self service lottery machines. Store policies, game inventory, payment methods, cutoff times, and prize redemption limits can also vary.
For the most reliable answer, find your nearest Sheetz and then verify that specific store with the appropriate state lottery retailer locator.
And if you are buying a ticket, play responsibly and follow the lottery rules that apply where you live.
